Title:     Monsoon: Stable Collapse
Location: Southern Boll Hold - Stables
Southern Boll Stables(#1940RADL)
Kelsey steps in from the courtyard and closes the door.
Kelsey strides in, waving as she spots Filliana. "How goes it?"
Telek arrives into the stables after traversing the long passageway from the Hold proper.
Kelsey glances up as Telek enters, flashing smile his way. "Hello Telek."
Telek smiles at Kelsey. "Hello, Kelsey!" He smiles at Filliana too. "Hi. What's happening? Is the foal coming today you think?
Kelsey turns her attention to Filliana. "I think it's soon... what are you thinking Fil?"
Filliana looks over at the anxious Malanya then nods to Telek. "From what I've heard of how she foals, I'd say it'll be very soon." The mare is lunging about in the box stall, pawing the ground and snorting frequently.
Telek looks at the mare and nods. "Something seems about to happen for sure."
Kelsey shakes her head, concerned. "If she foals in that state, I'd say we're all in for a wild ride. Isn't there something you can... give her to calm her down?"
"I'd not risk that yet, as any herbs she'd take would go through to the foal." Filliana answers quietly, glancing again to the agitated mare who's just kicked at the side of the box stall. "I will if I have to though. Have you seen the roof in the back of the stable?"
Telek checks on Piro, and can see he's doing fine and seems to have been taken well care of.
Kelsey blinks at this, shaking her head. "The roof? Well no... what's going on with it?" She glances over at Telek. "Piro's doing quite well, Telek. Considering the weather anyhow."
Filliana motions to the far corner of the stable where the roof has a very wet spot, the paint peeling back in long strips. "Go closer to that side, but stay back. You'll see what I mean."
Telek smiles. "Yes, I can see that. I'm glad he seems to be so calm, I'm hoping to learn to ride him one day after all." He winks, but then looks worried as he sees the wet spot Filliana is talking about.
Kelsey follows Filliana's gesture, then peers up at the roof. Her eyes widen and she shakes her head slowly, concern filling her eyes. "That is not good... we need to fix it soon, Fil." She bites her lower lip, staying carefully a few steps away from the wet spot.
Telek studies the spot a little closer wondering what can be done about it. "I sure wouldn't want to climb up on the roof in this weather..." He says, more to himself than to anyone else.
Filliana takes a moment to look up at the roof, then she nods in agreement to Kelsey. To Telek, she replies, "We tried getting that part repaired but it was too late by the time our people came to do it. The storm had started. I honestly don't like the looks of it at all." Her eyes go back to the mare, now snorting at them as her eyes flicker, almost angry.
Malanya lifts first one leg then the other, her knees banging against the side of the box stall. Filliana had put several layers of cloth there, so the mare's knees thud against them, softening her blows.
A frown flickers across Kelsey's features and she sighs heavily. "This... this is not good. My goodness but that mare is agitated. She's been so sedate until now." She looks up at the soggy roof once more. "I don't like the look of it either."
Malanya backs up, banging against the back of the box stall, then snorts, her head turning to look at it as if it were to blame and not her.
Telek looks at Malyna. "Will there be anything I can help with here Filliana? I'll leave again if I'll only be in the way.
Telek looks at Malanya of course, no one else.
Filliana glances over at Telek, then smiles at him. "There's no reason for you to leave. Actually, she's done this before, so unless there's a problem, our job is to just watch."
Telek smiles. "I'll stay then.
The mare stops suddenly, her eyes glazing as she stares outwardly. Her rear legs lower slightly, her muscles straining. After several long moments, she lifts back up, taking a few wobbling steps forward.
Filliana smiles from her position slightly in front of the box stall door. She whispers, "Oh, Malanya.. so it's time.."
Kelsey's eyes widen just a bit, and she moves out of Filliana's way. She smiles softly at Telek, beckoning him over. "It's amazing... come see."
Telek smiles at Kelsey, and moves closer to the box.
Malanya's head twists to look at her rear then swivels around to blink several times at the humans outside her stall. She gives one long, shrill whinney, the other runners in the stable oddly quiet.
Kelsey swallows hard, taking a deep breath, then smiles at Filliana. "She's a bit quieter now anyway." She whispers in the odd stillness of the stable, eyes still wide.
Down goes Malanya's rump once again, this time a puddle of clear liquid drips to the floor of the stall, dampening the deep layer of hay there. She closes her eyes, straining, the lines of each hindquarter muscle tense and taut.
Telek looks on, fascinated by what's going on. "Does everything seem to be as it should?"
Filliana has a light smile on her face as she watches Malanya's progress. "Oh she's done this so many times, she is doing it just great."
Norri arrives into the stables after traversing the long passageway from the Hold proper.
Norri peers in, "I wondered where everyone had gone..." she begins.
Kelsey grins at Norri, beckoning to her. "Malanya's foaling... come see." She grins, gesturing towards the box stall.
After several grunts and straining muscles, a very small nose is seen, as the foal's birth into real life begins. Malanya's rump is almost touching the fresh hay as the shoulders of the foal move quickly into view.
Filliana whispers in excitement, "Oh look... it's deep brown just like it's sire.."
Telek glances at Norri when he hear her arrive. "Hello Norri." He smiles at her. "I guess this isn't anything new for you Bitrans?
Norri blinks, "Foaling...you mean...she's having that baby right /now/?" she asks, aghast.
Kelsey nods with a smile to Norri, briefly turning to her before her eyes dart back to the foal. "Mmm hmmm... oh it is." She touches Filli's shoulder, just as excited.
Malanya takes a few steps forward, muscles still straining to push the foal into the hay. The little foal's body slides easily out to fall with a gentle thud onto the clean hay. He gurgles as his throat and lungs clear, then struggles to rise onto his long, awkward legs.
Norri begins to twist her hands nervously and begins to peer over and then looks away. "Shouldn't it be cleaner in here?" she asks woriedly, "For a new baby and all...I could go back and get the broom..."
Kelsey takes a deep, happy breath as the foal hits the hay. "Oh Filli... he's simply beautiful." At Norri's words, she chuckles, shaking her head. "The floor is dirt, Norri... and the hay is important. It's just fine... oh look at him." She beams, then turns to grin at Telek. "Isn't he just perfect?"
Filliana almost claps as the colt wobbles to his feet. "OH! A colt! It's a little boy! How wonderful!" She looks back at Norri then laughs. "I think the time for cleaning can wait until after, Norri."
Telek smiles, at the arrival of the new foal. "I'm sure this one will be fast as the wind on the tracks, when old enough.
Dyane arrives into the stables after traversing the long passageway from the Hold proper.
The new arrival struggles up onto his wobbly legs, peering at the people outside his box stall. His head turns then searching for his Ma. A first step sends him plopping down onto the hay, surprise in his eyes.
Dyane walks in looking confused at the odd conversations going on in the hallway. Her eyes alight on a new foal and she smiles, "Oh."
Kelsey chuckles as the little colt has a bit of trouble. "Oh... the little dear." She waves Dyane over. "Oh... come see!"
Telek smiles. "Greetings Lady Holder.
Malanya moves close to her baby, her muzzle moving down to gently prod him, pushing and encouraging him to get back up. She notices another human enter, then whinneys loudly, as if to call attention to her new son.
Norri dares to turn her head back to look at the foal and then gasps softly, "It's adorable!"
Telek just stands there grinning like a fool.
Kelsey grins at Telek's expression, nudging him with her elbow. "Close your mouth hon." She winks, then turns back to the colt. "Perfect he is..."
Dyane makes her way toward the cluster of foal gawkers and smiles, "He's a darling."
The colt moves forward on the hay slightly as his Ma nudges him. Trying desperately to get those gangly legs back underneath him, he lets out his first baby whinney, shrill and abrupt. He stops his attempts, as if surprised at his own voice, then goes back to trying to stand up.
Telek smiles at Kelsey. "What? Oh... Yes, right. Perfect for sure...
Several of the other runners in the stable hear the little's first whinney, answering him with their own, adult responses. Filliana laughs at the loud noises then looks back to the colt. "I think I'll go over and get some cloths to dry him with. Be right back."
Kelsey nods at Filli. "Would you like some help? Or... here, I can do it."
Finally succeeding at getting up on his legs, the colt stands there, swaying, looking quite proud of himself. His Ma moves over by him, nudging him into position so he can begin his first suckling attempts. She stands there, over him, protectively, the proud Ma yet again.
Filliana shakes her head at Kelsey, offering her a smile. "That's alright. I put several back there in the corner. I know right where they are. Stay here and enjoy. Seeing a birth right from the beginning is a great thing."
Kelsey nods, turning back to the colt. "As you say... a wonderful thing."
Norri watches mother and foal a bit anxiously, "They /look/ alright. I've never seen anything like that."
Filliana strides back toward the far corner of the stable to get the dry clean cloths. She calls out to several runners along the way, "Now you be nice to the newest member of Boll's racing team, you hear?"
Kelsey grins, glancing at Filliana over her shoulder. "I'm sure they will."
Telek smiles at Kelsey. "Do you know what his name will be? Who will name him by the way?
Kelsey shrugs back at Telek, smiling. "I'm not sure... Filliana or the mare's owner most likely. Whoever owns him will name him."
The wind outside the stable gets more ferocious, loud noises being heard outside the building. Rain, beating down on the roof fiercely, sounds almost like harper drums from fireheights. Suddenly, unexpectedly, an extremely loud crackle is heard, almost as if a tree were uprooted. A crash is heard against the roof right above where Filliana is standing, getting the cloths, then creeks and groans sound as the roof strains under the weight of a huge tree that's fallen on it.
Telek looks up at the noise. "Hey! Filliana! Look out!
Dyane's head snaps up to the roof at the crash, her eyes wide. She pauses for a moment, stunned at the sounds before calling out, "Get away from that side ... Bring the runners to this end! Filli!"
Norri gasps and springs forward to help, "Oh no!"
The roof is unable to hold the weight of the tree, mainly as it's managed to fall right where the rain has made the roof soggy, several loose particles now making cracks along the inside of the ceiling.
Filliana looks up, hearing Dyane's voice, too stunned to move. She's holding the cloth now, but it drops from her hands as she watches the ceiling begin to give way under the tree's weight.
Kelsey gasps at the noise, immediately runing for that end of the stables. "Get out of there... Filli!"
Norri tries to rush forward, but the wind pushes her this way and that, "Look out!"
A rather large chunk of the roof cracks now, branches of the tree pushing through it to stick out toward the hallway of the stable. Finally, unable to support the weight at all, ceiling and tree crash through, rain now pelting down into the room through the ceiling's hole. Filliana gasps, as a large limb hits her, pinning her to the floor. She calls out loudly. "Save the runners!"
Telek runs after Kelsey. "Get away from there Filli!" He's reaching out for Kelsey trying to stop her from getting too close to the collapsing ceiling.
Norri grabs at the wood, vainly trying to pull it away, too small to be effectual, "Are you all right?" she cries, despite it being very clear that she can not be.
Dyane starts working her way through the rain and wind, over the timbers, "Get a healer!" she snaps. She is pushed aside by a few stablehands.
Kelsey pushes Telek towards Filli. "Get her out of there- I'll get the runners." She's moving fast now, unbolting all the stalls. "Norri- help me get the runners out... you can't lift the wood anyhow." She brushes rain out of her face, trying to quiet runners and pull them away.
Norri continues to tug at the wood for a moment, stubbornly, but the habit of obedience kicks in and she moves away reluctantly, turning to the runners and waving her hands at them to make them go the right way. "Go!" she orders, much as she would a little or a resident back home.
Telek runs up to Filliana, and starts to pull at the limb that's pinning her to the floor.
Large chunks of the roof cascade down into the room, wind swirling it as it falls. Several large limbs now tear more of the roof away as the runners squeal and tramp, banging their stalls, eyes whirling with fear. Filliana lays beneath the tree limb, one leg out at an odd angle, her face flushed with pain. "Get the runners out..." she almost whispers now.
Kelsey shakes her head at Norri. "No no... you'll just scare them." Experienced stable hands move in to lead the runners away, and Kelsey hands the rope in her hand to one of them. "Get them all out of here... find... someplace."
Kelsey gasps as she looks back at Filliana. "Oh... Filli..." She looks around, frantic. "A healer... we need to find a healer."
Telek pulls hard. "Don't worry about the runners, they'll get them out in time."
Norri calls back, "I am! Don't worry Filliana!" She looks at Kelsey , "What should I do then?" she asks, calm enough to help, despite the fear eveident in her voice.
Dyane says to Telek, "Go get the Healer ... Thalia and her son are visiting." She watches the stablehands pull the timbers from around Filliana with care.
Kelsey shakes her head at Norri. "No... it's alright..." The other stablehands rush around, calming runners. "Oh... Lady Dyane, maybe Norri should go. Telek's stronger to help with the ceiling."
Telek looks over at Norri, to see if she's going for the healer.
Filliana tries to move the tree herself, her hands clawing at the smaller branches, trying to push them up. She coughs twice as particles of the ceiling drop onto her face. Her one hand gropes downward, toward the bent leg. "I.. think it's broken.." she gasps, rain streaming down her face.
Norri nods, "A healer," she repeats and runs as best she can through the debris, away to find one.
Norri makes their way down the long passageway, opens the large door, and steps into the Hold Proper.
Dyane controls her anger at being disobeyed until Filliana is safe in the healer's care.
Kelsey takes a deep, calming breath. "It's going to be alright Filli... the runners arre almost out.... the colt is just fine." She kneels beside the woman, sheilding her face with her body. "Norri will be back with Thalia soon... just... just try to relax." She brushes hair out of Filli's face, breaking small branches off. She seems oblivious to Dyane's anger... but that will come later.
Telek glances up at the ceiling to see if more of it is coming down. "We need an axe or something to get her loose!
Filliana closes her eyes against the rain, shivering now. "Don't let the colt get hurt.. Go watch him.." she whispers, face red and strained.
Kelsey blinks up at Telek. "An axe... an axe... fast too." She looks back down at Filli. "He's fine... he's out. Are you sure you want me to go?" She moves a bit so the rain doesn't hit Filli's face so much. "Oh... you're going to be just fine." She looks anxious though, looking around. "Look... over in that corner Telek."
Filliana grasps a long thin branch that's settled over her chest, trying to shove it away from her. "I can get this off.. just.." She tries lifting herself up, but is stopped by the larger limb. "Shards.." she says, hand still straining to get at her leg. "Snap my leg back in place.. it's.. broken I think.. Just yank it.."
Telek runs over to the corner. After some searching he comes back with an axe. It looks old and rather dull, but it will have to do. "Move over a little Kelsey, I need some room here."
Kelsey gulps. "Yank it?" She shakes her head... touching Filli's cheek. "I don't want to pull it the wrong way." She looks up at Telek, then moves aside a bit. "Please be careful Telek... please." Rain streams down her cheeks... or are a few tears mixed in? She breaks off the branch across Filli's chest, then backs away again. "Maybe we should wait for Thalia."
Telek starts to chop away at some smaller branches so he can get to the bigger one that's pinning Filliana down.
Kelsey glances around helplessly. "Where -is- that healer? Oh Fil... I'll try to help with the leg if you think I should."
Telek mutters to himself. "Stupid dull axe." He's started to chop away at the larger branch now tho'...
Meanwhile in the Great Hall:
Thalia walks down the stairway and nods when she notices someone in the Great Hall. "Healer Hall's duty." She takes a few steps to one of the meal tables, trying to get some juice.
Norri runs into the hall, hair streaming out behind her, face flushed, "A healer!" she cries, "We must have a healer at once! Where is the Hold's healer's quarters?" she demands of Thalia, taking her for a Boll resident.
Thalia arches her brows, setting down the juice at once. "Healer? That's me! You are Norri, aren't you? Healer Master Thalia. What's wrong?"
Norri gasps and runs over, seizing Thalia's arm, "Oh, of course! I didn't recognize you Master Thalia! Please, come with me at once!" She begins to drag her.
Thalia lets herself be dragged willingly enough, then stops abruptly. "Let me just get my things!" She runs up the stairway in a frenzy, short time later returns with her healer bag. "So, let's go!"
Back at the Stables
Norri steps in from the courtyard and closes the door.
Norri runs in breathlessly, followed by the healer, "I found her!"
Filliana lays in the back, far corner of the stable, down the hallway past the stalls, under part of a huge tree that's fallen through the ceiling. Rain and wind come through it, showering those underneath.
Finally managing to chop through the lager branch Telek puts the axe down, and carefully starts to pull at the branch again.
Thalia arrives into the stables after traversing the long passageway from the Hold proper.
Norri drags Thalia behind her. "Is she alright?" she asks hurriedly.
Thalia runs into the stable with flying braid, a heavy bag of hide in her right hand. With an expert eye she takes in the stables, finding the ruined part of it. She runs to Filliana's side, getting on her knees. "What happened and where does it hurt?" She opens the bag, getting a large pot of something and rubbing her hands and arms in it, redwort.
Telek manages to lift the branch enough so it should be possible to pull Filliana free. "I can hold it up until she's seen to, if it's better she's not moved yet." He says to Thalia.
Filliana's eyes attempt to focus on the healer, seeing mostly a blur right now. Her one hand lifts to motion toward her leg that's twisted outward from her body. The other pants leg is ripped and two large gouges where the tree hit her can be seen. "The leg's broken.." she whispers, almost stuttering now.
Norri winces, "Can I help?" she asks, trying not to hover too close to Thalia.
Thalia nods to Telek, wiping some rain off her forehead, staining herself with redwort. "She should not move at all." She looks around. "Quick, we need to move her so she gets out of reach of the tree. Someone grab her shoulders, someone grab her waist." She puts her arms around Filliana's waist, waiting for help.
Filliana groans as she tries to lift her body upward so Thalia can get a better hold. With a pain filled face, she looks up at Thalia. "I can try to get up..."
Dyane steps over the debris, reaching Thalia's side, "I can help."
Norri moves over and gingerly takes Filliana's shoulders, "Like this?" she asks.
Bahlt steps in from the courtyard and closes the door.
Kelsey nods at the healer. "Just show me where to go."
Thalia pushes Filliana back down, gently so. "Please, don't move. Don't move at all. Things will be better soon, I promise." She nods to Norri and Dyane. "We lift her at 3." She sees a man come in. "You go and help! Take the woman's shoulders. 1, 2, 3!"
Norri nods and listens and on the count lifts as carefully as she can, straining a bit.
Bahlt scrambles to join the others, hidden down to mid-shin by the oiled coat. "Me? All right!" he circles around and gives those shoulders a try.
Kelsey takes a position opposite Dyane, slipping her arms benath Filli. She lifts with the others.
Filliana calls out sharply as her leg is abruptly moved from it's resting place. She grits her teeth, face bright crimson now. "Sharding eggshells!!" she yells out loudly.
Norri bites her lip. "We're hurting her!" she cries to Thalia. "Are you sure this is what we're supposed to do?"
Kelsey winces at Filliana's cry. "Shards Filli... I'm sorry. Isn't there something different we can do Thalia?"
Thalia gestures to put Filliana down, then kneels again, a scolding glance shot in Norri's direction. She gets scissors from her bag, then cuts the remants of Filliana's pants swiftly.
Bahlt tries to make it down, with a low, sharp, "What happened? All I heard was there was a collapse..." and there's Norri, that's good.
Filliana mutters curses she's never said in all her turns of life, one right after the other. "Faranth's first, I'll have the heads of those handymen who said we could wait..!! Who's here, who's here.." she makes no sense now as her eyes show fear and anger.
Norri catches Thalia's glance and looks down, shamefaced. "The roof caved in, right on her, from the rain," she whispers to Bahlt, tensely waiting for more of Thalia's instructions.
Dyane follows Thalia's instructions, looking concerened at Filliana's condition but knowing better than to question the Healer.
Thalia shakes her head to Kelsey. "I need space to work. If we want to save her leg we have to hurt her." Her eyes scan the leg all the while, studying it carefully, to assess the situation.
Telek drops the branch as soon as Filliana is pulled free. He stretches his back, and wipes some rain from his face.
"Shardit, shardit!!" Filliana curses again, "Where's the wineskin I keep here? Over there.." she points to the wall where one hangs.
Kelsey nods, gulping. "Sorry Thalia." She hastily moves some things out of the way, clearing debris as fast as she can. "Here.. Norri... take some of this." She pauses at Filli's words, the curses not even fazing her. "Wine... right." She runs for the skin, then brings it back as fast as she can. "Thalia?"
Norri nods to Kelsey, back on comfortable ground when it comes to removing debris, "Of course," she murmurs, keeping her voice level this time, as she begins to push away the splintered wood and branches.
Bahlt frowns. "From the rain?" he whispers back, knuckles whitening on Filliana's shoulders before he realizes, and lets go. "And hurt to help?" Another look at the woman who must be a healer.
Norri nods to Bahlt, shoveling away debris as fast as she can, "It just creaked and cracked and fell," she whispers to him.
Bahlt takes the cue, moving the larger pieces by bracing the planks upon his knee.
Thalia gently touches the right leg with no gashes which seems to cause the most pain. "This bone is broken," she prods some more, "calf. No comminuted fracture. I need a splint, at once. Quick, get me something!" She looks around. "You should have suitable material in your infirmary."
Norri looks at all the wood around them, "Would one of these straighter planks do until someone can find something else?" she asks.
Thalia nods to Norri. "Indeed. Let me see." She looks into Filliana's eyes. "Your leg will be fine again very soon. But to achieve that you'll have to endure some amount of pain now." She gets a swab from her bag and pushes it into Filliana's mouth. "Bite on it. All will be." She squeezes the patient's hand, then her hands come to rest on the right leg, almost hesitantly.
Kelsey winces, knowing what's coming next. She takes Filli's hand. "Squeeze if you need to..."
Filliana lifts up to look down at the leg, twisted there. Another round of cursing is sent to it. "The head of that handyman will be cut and placed on a pole, on the First Egg, it will! SHARDIT!! I have work to do and runners to.." She cringes as yet another shooting pain runs up her leg. "Ahh.." she gets cut off in her deluge, eyeing Thalia with contemptful eyes, biting down on the cloth.
Bahlt sees about locating one of those straighter planks, then, one vertically split for thinness but length and strength; he holds up two, and worries, "But splinters?"
Norri swallows and moves away, closer to Bahlt.
Thalia no longer hesitates and in one swift motion straightens the bent leg. "Quick quick, I need the splint now!"
Kelsey strokes Filli's hair, murmuring much as she would to a runner, "Hush now Filli... we'll get it right. And don't worry about runners and work... we'll take care of it and you both, eh?"
Filliana mmmphs as she wants to cry out, her eyes rolling upward as the leg is snapped into place. Her lashes flutter as her body tenses every muscle.
Bahlt murmurs a quick, "'Ware your shins," to Norri and the others in range as he swings over the less splintery-looking piece of wood.
Telek looks on with a worried look, wishing there was something he could do... "You'll be fine again in no time Filli..."
Kelsey grimaces, stroking Filli's hair. "Oh... it's all over now... it's all over." She ducks under the wood, biting her lip.
A strong gust of wind whips down through the opening in the roof, bringing a burst of rain with it, spattering the ground. Cold winds whip down the hallway of the stable, sending leaves and chunks of torn branches swirling up into the air.
Norri jumps, both away from the wood and when the wind blows again, "And she'll be fine now?" she asks Thalia, once she recovers.
Kelsey covers her eyes with her arm, trying to block Filliana's face from the deluge a bit. "We've got to get her out of here. Let us know when we can Thalia."
Thalia takes the piece of wood, and with some thick thread she gets from her bag very securely attaches the splint to the straightened leg. "Oh, you were doing wonderfully. Almost over." She gets a jar of numbweed and with a light coat of it stops the blood from the gashes on the left calf.
Bahlt, once the splint is out of his hands, starts trying to clear the path by kicking the fallen branch-chunks to either side.
Telek helps Bahlt to clear a path out of the stable.
Thalia nods to Kelsey. "If you can, please move her now. We have to get her to the infirmary. Stay clear of the leg though." She wipes sweat and rain off her forehead, staining herself with more redwort and blood.
Norri pulls her eyes from Filliana's leg, frowning as her question goes unanswered, and says, "I'll go ahead to the infirmary, if you like, and make sure it's ready."
Thalia stands, ready to help carry Filliana over to the Infirmary. At last she nods to Norri. "She should be fine. The leg is in no danger, the bone just needs to knit."
Bahlt balances one end of a particularly large piece, giving Telek the lighter end; he looks over his shoulder, though, "I hope it's clear for you, Norri!"
Norri makes their way down the long passageway, opens the large door, and steps into the Hold Proper.
Filliana sighs as the numbweed begins to take hold then shudders violently. Her wet, stained face is riddled with pain, but she spits out Thalia's swab to groan loudly. "Wine.." she says emphatically. "Wine, lots of wine.."
Telek takes the lighter end of the large piece, and moves it out of the way.
Thalia nods to Filliana. "You'll have that and more. All will be fine." She looks around. "Shall we lift her now?"
Kelsey nods, reaching beneath the StableMaster. "On three then?" She prepares to take the brunt of the weight, whispering to Filli, "Just one minute and then I'll bring you some of Benden's best."
Bahlt circles around to lend a hand.
Thalia nods and counts to three again. "There we go, quick!"
Telek helps, if there any need for it.
Kelsey lifts on Thalia's count, careful of the leg. She starts to carry her out as fast as she can, still keeping her level.
Filliana grasps Kelsey's arm quickly, fingers clinched into the girl's flesh. "Ahhhhhhh..." she calls out as she's lifted upward. "My runners are more gentle than that!!" she yells out loudly.
Kelsey winces, not so much at the pain in her arm as the imagined pain for Filli. "Oh... I'm sorry." She tries to move more gently, shifting her arms a bit.
Thalia makes their way down the long passageway, opens the large door, and steps into the Hold Proper.
Filliana is being carried through the Hold as carefully as possible.
Lower East Corridor
Telek walks into the corridor after taking the long passageway from the stables.
Thalia heads back to the great hall.

Telek wanders in from the eastern hallway.

Kelsey wanders in from the eastern hallway.
Thalia disappears into the lower southern corridor.
Lower South Corridor - Infirmary(#1911RIJL$)
Telek walks down the corridor from the direction of the Great Hall.
Thalia groans a bit at Filliana's weight. "There we are, there's a cot for you. Now let's set her down, gently."
Kelsey walks down the corridor from the direction of the Great Hall.
Bahlt walks down the corridor from the direction of the Great Hall.
Norri is hurrying about the infirmary, trying to neaten the already immaculate room, gazing anxiously at Filliana as they bring her in.
Filliana sniffs the antiseptic air then grimaces again as she's carried. "I should be in the stables, SHARDIT, Thalia.. with the new colt, not here.."
Kelsey shakes her head. "The colt isn't in the stable Filliana... hush now. He'll be fine. I'll go look after him as soon as we get you settled."
Telek says "The colt will be fine Filli. The stablehands are perfectly capable to take care of him I'm sure."
Thalia looks down at Filliana sternly, when she gets water and redwort for the gashes. "You should be right here, if you ever want to run with the colts again."
Filliana counters, her voice edgy and upset, "Where is he, if he's not in the stable, Kelsey? Has that oaf of a handyman managed to.." She glances over to Thalia, frowning, but she does settle back on the cot.
Norri hangs back, "Is there anything I can get you from your room Filliana?" she asks diffidently.
Kelsey kneels beside Filliana, calmly stroking her hair and trying not to sound as concerned as she feels. "He's with a stable hand Fil... somewhere nice and dry and safe. We can't have him in the stable with the roof falling down, now can we? He's perfectly alright... would you like me to go make sure for you?
Thalia applies some redwort after cleaning the wounds, then another coating of numbweed, before she starts bandaging the gashes tightly. She nods to the soothing words of the patient's friends while she works.
Filliana looks down at her ripped pants then over to Norri. "Unless we want the.." her voice stalls out with a ripple of pain, then she continues, "drudges to see every private part of me, I should get new work pants.." She leans over to Kelsey, saying, "Make sure. He's.. special.."
Telek pats Filliana on the shoulder. "Everything will be fine Filli. You'll be up and about in no time I'm sure."
Norri nods, ready to flee, "I'll get some for you! And some other fresh clothes too!"
Thalia shakes her head. "Now, ma'am, will you calm down? You don't need pants at the moment, we'll get you a shirt. You won't leave this cot for some time. You won't walk around for some time. Your leg needs to rest if you want the bone to knit."
Norri wanders north
Kelsey nods slowly, patting her hand. "I will go right now then. I know how special he is... I'll see to his every need myself." She smiles, brushing away a tear or two stubbornly. "He'll run like the wind Fil, no problems at all."
Telek says "I... I guess I should get some dry clothes too." He smiles at Kelsey before he leaves. "Are you ok?""
Bahlt decides, "And I will, too. Unless there's anything else I should do, Healer?"
Thalia shakes her head and smiles to Bahlt. "Thank you for your help, I think I have everything that I need right now here. Thanks again." She bows her head.
Kelsey nods at Telek. "I'm fine... I'll just go check on that colt." She pretends not to notice a tear that rolls down her cheek, hoping no one else notices it either and hurries out of the room.
Kelsey wanders north
Telek wanders north
Bahlt hastily bows -his- head and follows everyone.
Thalia retreats a bit, preparing something, it seems. A few moments later she returns with a cup of wine. "Here, ma'am, that's the wine you deserve for all you endured."
Filliana lifts up on one elbow to gratefully accept the cup, immediately putting it to her lips. In one long sip, she drinks it all, then holds it out to Thalia, leaning back once again with a sigh.
Thalia gets a towel and wets a corner of it, dabbing Filliana's face. "Feeling slightly better?"
Filliana takes a few moments to answer, much more docile than before. "I do.. it was .. good that you were here." Again she lifts upward to look down at her legs. "How long? A sevenday?"
Thalia smiles and nods. "A sevenday. Maybe slightly longer. You'll be running with the runners soon."
Filliana glances to the side, looking toward the door, her eyes getting heavier as she speaks. "I can't be gone from the stables long. Oh, Thalia?" she asks, turning back to the healer.
Thalia smiles and nods. "Yes?"
Filliana fumbles with a cloth covering, then looks up to Thalia's eyes. "Could you.. I mean might you.." she falters, "write a note to Tenefel for me? My blue Samada might be able to get through the weather.."
Thalia tilts her head. "As in Lord Bitra? Of course I can. I need to write a report to my Craftmaster, and I'll just send another report to him." She runs a hand through Filliana's hair. "And now why don't you try to sleep, this has been very exciting, hasn't it?"
Filliana closes her eyes, finding comfort in the healer's touch. With eyes now heavy with fellis, she half closes them. "Too exciting.. it can't last much longer.."
A blue firelizard, banded with South Boll's and Bitra's colours appears from *between*, carrying a small message tube with a soaked up message in it:
Greetings, m'lord,
My kind regards,
This long narrow area serves as the stables for Southern Boll Hold. As would be expected with Southern Boll's reputation for runner breeding, the long rows of stalls along the walls are almost all occupied. There are several larger birthing stalls, at one end, which are almost constantly in use. Burly drudges hurry about, grooming the runners as well as cleaning and restocking the stalls. Fresh bales of straw are located up in the haylofts. In the farthest corner is the average sized smithy which is used to repair the runner shoes, saddles, stirrups and other riding gear.

The lower east corridor of the Hold is wide and filled with afternoon activities. Drudges hurry down the hall, arms laden with platters, brooms, dust clothes and pails, to perform their afternoon chores. Jovial residents step in and out of the kitchen and hearth rooms, laughing and carrying their noon meal to the Hall. Large glow baskets hang from the ceilings, currently unlit. The double doors leading to the kitchens and hearth rooms stands wide open, the sounds of pots and pans clattering showing the bustle within.<
Large glass windows provide a stunning view of the sea and jungles that surround the Hold proper. The afternoon sunlight slants through the windows, lighting the portraits of the previous Holders of Boll that hang regally on the walls. A long table near the south wall is set aside for the Holders and staff. The upper balcony landing hangs over the table, holding the shields of the Pernese Holds, Crafts, and Weyrs. Smaller tables with 'places' to sit are arranged in a way to leave the center of the hall open. The room is bustling with activity as drudges set up for the noon meal. Pealing laughter is heards as children dash through the hall to play outside.
You look through the windows and see: The afternoon is dark grey and overcast. The driving rain makes it impossible to see and you can feel the electricity in the air. Gusts of wind can be felt coming from the north-northwest and the autumn air is hot and heavy with humidity.
This large set of rooms is the infirmary. Painted white and smelling slightly of antiseptic, this area hold rows of cots for the sick of the Hold. A separate area is isolated for the contagious and seriously infirmed. The far wall is line with shelves holding medicinal herbs and supplies. A small "office" area for the Healer is located near the entrance.
I was asked to inform you that StableMaster Filliana has been hurt in an accident where she was buried beneath a tree. Her right calf is broken, her left calf has deep gashes which were bleeding moderately. She has been treated by me and now has to rest for an unknown amount of time in Boll's infirmary.
